Maker Exhibit : Individuals, groups, schools and organizations that would like to demonstrate what they make and/or how it works in an all-weekend exhibit space; interactive exhibits are encouraged. For maker groups, please have one point person to coordinate your efforts. There is no exhibitor fee for standard Maker Exhibits.
Maker Exhibit can also include these two sub-types:
Non-Profit and Cause or Mission Based Associations, Institutions and Organizations: In an effort to respond to requests from a variety of organizations that would like to participate in Maker Faire, we have created a special category where organizations can qualify for special reduced sponsorship rates to participate in Maker Faire based on their annual budget. (Please note that this fee is due for a 10 x 10 foot space only and does not include electrical, internet or other requirements.) Complete the Maker Exhibit Form, and we will contact you with details. This statement does not apply to makerspaces or hackerspaces, which receive free exhibit space at Maker Faire. If your organization cannot afford this fee, please continue to fill out the application, indicate you are a Non-Profit or Organization and provide details in the space indicated. We will take this into consideration while reviewing your application.
Commercial Makers: Individuals who would like to sell or market products along with demonstrating what they make at their maker exhibit. Submit a Maker Exhibit application and indicate that you are a Commercial Maker by indicating your plans to promote or sell products at Maker Faire. There is a $450 exhibit fee for a standard set-up (an approximate 5’x10′ tabletop space, an 6′ table, 2 chairs, and event long entry passes for the Makers). Please note, startup companies, corporate entities, and established companies do not qualify as Commercial Makers; we have great opportunities available for you — please see the
Startup Company entry form or the Sponsor page for information.
Performance: Musicians and entertainers who would like to perform at Maker Faire. Performances are usually on stage and scheduled for approximately 50 minutes. Set lengths vary. Some performances in the past have been roaming and unscheduled, which is welcomed. Please mention scheduling details in your application.
If you need a space, away from a stage to perform many times during the weekend, fill out the Maker Exhibit application.
If you plan to have a scheduled performance once or twice during the faire, fill out the Performer application.
Presentation: Individuals and groups who would like to talk about an idea or project of interest to the Maker community, OR makers who are interested in demonstrating what they make and how it works in a stage setting. Presentations are typically 10, 20, or 45 minutes, with some time for Q&A.
If you are applying on behalf of someone else, you’ll have the opportunity in the Entry Form to enter public-facing presenter information and remain the primary contact.
Startup Company: Startup Companies that meet the following criteria can participate in Maker Faire for a reduced sponsorship fee. Startup Company criteria: been in operation 5 years or less, business consists of more than 1 and under 10 employees, privately funded or have startup capital of no more than $3 million, pre-profitable and gross sales under $1 million. Complete requirements and benefits of this opportunity are listed in the introduction of the
Startup Company
entry form above. Limited positions are available.
Sponsor: Corporate entities and established companies are welcomed as sponsors at Maker Faire. For more information about becoming a sponsor, please see our Sponsor page.
When applying, you are required to provide a project (or presentation) photo and a bio photo. Please have these ready before you start your application. The project photo will appear publicly with your short description above.
File must be at least 500px wide or larger and you must have rights to the image used. This image will be the public imaged used relating to your exhibit content. Logos and low-res photos do not work well. For example photos go here.
Crafters: If you are an indie crafter, and your primary intent is to sell your products at Maker Faire, your application process is separate from this one. We partner with BUST Craftacular, to create an independent craft faire held within Maker Faire.
Crafters, click here for BUST Craftacular information.
The difference between Commercial Makers and Craft vendors: Both Commercial Makers and Craft vendors are a part of Maker Faire. The craft faire area is dedicated to people who are only selling their wares and all vendors are curated together to create a craft faire environment within Maker Faire. On the other hand, Commercial Makers exhibit in various areas of the event, demonstrating what they make and usually offer a hands-on activity; Selling is a side-addition to their DIY demonstration; selling is not the focus of their exhibit.
Volunteer / Maker Faire Traveler: More information coming soon.
Food Vendors: Concessionaires who would like to sell non-packaged, ready-to-eat food to attendees at Maker Faire follow a different application process. Do not fill out the entry forms above. If you are interested, email food@makerfaire.com.
After receiving the Call for Makers notice and applying, we will send an email confirming that we have received your entry form. If you don’t receive this email, let us know: makers@makerfaire.com. Acceptances are sent via email approximately 2 months before the show. Once accepted, begin to plan for your participation. We will send regular Maker Newsletter updates and your Maker Agreement in advance of the event.
